Boiler Operation

Commercial buildings and schools most often utilize low-pressure boilers.

Our course is designed to provide boiler operators with training on low-pressure boilers and their safe operation; in addition, steam and hot water boiler operation are also covered.

Qualifications

In order to obtain a Second Class Low Pressure Boiler Operators License (Class C), you must hold a Special Engineers License for at least one year, be employed in a facility operating a low pressure boiler, and pass a test administered by the MN Department of Labor, Division of Boiler Inspection.

Once you have your Second Class Low Pressure Boiler Operators License, you can obtain a First Class Low Pressure Boiler Operators License (Class B) by working an additional 2 years in the field and passing the test.

To obtain the Chief Low Pressure Boiler Operators License (Class A), you need 2 additional years of work in the field (4 years total after obtaining the Second Class License) and you need to pass the test.

Our course prepares students for the following exams:

  • Special Engineers License
  • Second Class Low Pressure Boiler
  • First Class Low Pressure Boiler
  • Chief Low Pressure Boiler

Costs

Approximate cost is $249. One textbook is required, available at the Century College bookstore, costing approximately $55.
