Financial Aid for Study Abroad

Century College programs

If the Study Abroad program is a Century College approved course and the credits will be used toward your degree, apply for financial aid through Century College by submitting a FAFSA. Register for the class through the Century College Records and Registration Office. The Financial Aid Office will automatically calculate your financial aid eligibility for those credits. You may request a budget increase based on the higher cost of studying abroad if you have documentation of the costs.

If the Study Abroad program is a summer session, refer to “Financial Aid for Summer Semester.”

If your financial aid is not sufficient to cover the cost of the Study Abroad program, you can apply for a loan through the state of Minnesota (SELF) or an alternative loan through a private lender. See “Types of Financial Aid” for information on those loans.

Programs from another college

There are two options for programs through other colleges.

  1. If the Study Abroad program is through another college and the credits will be earned there, apply for financial aid by submitting a FAFSA and receiving an Award Notice from that college. Register for the class at the other school.
  2. Get your financial aid at Century College. Register for the class at the other school and submit a Consortium Agreement to Century’s Financial Aid Office. To qualify for financial aid, the credits must apply toward the degree, diploma or certificate you are pursuing at Century College.
