Century's Horticulture Department offers several certificates, diplomas and two-year associate degrees. The classes and degrees will transfer to four year colleges, including the University of Minnesota.
Our department offers over 20 classes covering different aspects of horticulture. Areas of study include:
- woody and herbaceous plants
- landscape design and installation
- greenhouse production
- interior foliage plants
- landscape management
- fruit and vegetable production
- organic and environmentally-friendly horticulture
- plant propagation
- soils, plant biology
- pest management

Flexible learning options
We offer flexible learning options for working students. Nearly all of Century's Horticulture classes are 3 credit classes, and meet for 3 hours just one day per week.
Some evening, on-line and web-enhanced classes are also offered.
Articulation agreements
Century's Horticulture Department has articulation agreements with:
- University of Minnesota - St. Paul Campus
- University of Minnesota – Crookston Campus
- University of Wisconsin – River Falls Campus
In addition, our general studies courses are part of the Minnesota transfer curriculum, making Century the clear choice for those considering transferring to a four-year college.
Scholarships
Two $1,000 scholarships are available to horticulture students through the Century College Foundation. One scholarship is provided courtesty of a Century College horticulture graduate.
The second scholarship is offered courtesy of Linder’s Greenhouses, a strong supporter of our program. This scholarship is offered through the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association.

Occupational trends
The horticulture industry is a fast-growing field, and employs over one million people in the United States. Salaries vary but those with training and experience do well. For employment stability and benefits, park systems and larger companies are good options. Also, many self employed horticulturists do very well.

Horticulture club
Century's Horticulture club offers educational opportunities, community and campus service, and social functions. Membership in this club is encouraged.
