Century's Radiologic Technology program prepares you to work in a patient care setting providing diagnostic medical images using radiation for the diagnosis of human diseases and disorders.
Our challenging allied health two-year associate of applied science degree will give you the skills and knowledge to assist radiologists in obtaining digital images using the latest medical computer imaging systems. It will also prepare you work in related imaging fields and interact with patients in a caring and compassionate way.
Certification
Upon graduation you are eligible to take a national certification examination, which will enable you to work nationwide in various settings, including:
- major medical centers
- hospitals
- outpatient facilities
- and private physician offices
Program mission
The purpose of the Program is to prepare clinically competent, entry-level technologists capable of practicing independent judgment in performing radiographic procedures that meet community and healthcare industry standards.
We accomplish our mission through the following five goals:
- Graduate entry-level radiographers qualified to meet the needs of the health care community.
- Graduates/students will practice as competent radiographer in the clinical setting.
- Graduates/students will demonstrate effective communication skill in the clinical setting.
- Graduates/students will demonstrate problem-solving and critical thinking skills in the health care setting.
- Graduates/students will exhibit an interest in professional growth and development.
Articulation agreement
Transfer curriculum
If you plan to transfer, Century has an articulation agreement with Metropolitan State University – First College.
Financial aid and scholarships
Eligible students may apply for financial aid through Century College.
In addition, Century's Foundation offers numerous scholarships.
Also, the national radiologic technology professional organization, The American Society of Radiologic Technologists, offers several student scholarships.
Occupational trends
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, “Employment of radiologic technologists
is expected to increase by about 15 percent from 2006 to 2016, faster than the average for all occupations."
