Program description
The Visual Communications Technologies (VCT) Program at Century College prepares you for an exciting and challenging career in the visual communication of information. This information – often referred to as “key messages” -- can be communicated for a company, organization, product, service or other subject through a number of visual mediums, including print materials, photographs, video productions, Web sites, multimedia presentations, and 3-D animations.
You will receive either an A.A.S. degree or diploma in one of the following four areas:
- Digital video
- Graphic design
- Multimedia
- Photography
The VCT program uses state-of-the-art equipment to teach you concepts in:
- Digital imaging
- Interactive multimedia design
- Nonlinear digital video and audio
- Page layout
- 3-D animation, including character animation
- Traditional darkroom and digital photography
- Web site design
Opportunities abound for visual communications professionals in business, industry, educational settings, as an entrepreneur, and many other venues that have a need for creative, professional quality visual productions. As a visual communications professional, you may work on printed graphic designs, digital and traditional photography, video productions, Web pages, interactive multimedia presentations, and 3-D animations.

Articulation agreements
Occupational programs
If you are interested in pursuing a B.A in a related VCT area, you will find an exceptional articulation agreement between the VCT Program and Bemidji State University. All VCT credits as well as gen. ed. credits will transfer and you will start at Bemidji State as a junior.
We also have excellent articulation agreements with Metro State and Fargo State.
Flexible learning options
Many classes are offered as early as 7:45-9:40 am and as late as 6:00-7:50 pm
