About the Discipline

The study of history can be enjoyable, interesting and relevant to your life. Or it can be boring, outdated and irrelevant – it depends how you teach it. At Century College, we take a different approach to studying history. Why? Because the knowledge gained from history can provide new insights and perspectives to help you understand yourself and the role you play in humanity. You'll learn to explain how men and women in the past have contributed to the human story. Through the appraisal and use of historical sources and methods, you will analyze both change and continuity in human history across different periods and cultures. And, you'll be introduced to a broad range of social, political and economic institutions. In short, when you learn more about the people who came before you, you will very likely learn more about yourself and the world too.
