  1. Century College has been transforming lives for over 50 years.
  2. Since 1967, Century College has grown from a small brick schoolhouse of 503 students into two campuses and over 21,000 students.
  3. The Fiscal Year 2017 overall annual combined economic contribution of Century College in Minnesota is $368.5 million.
  4. Century College is known for affordable tuition. Annual tuition is nearly $10,000 less than the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and approximately $29,000 less than private colleges and universities.
  5. Century College is one of Minnesota's most diverse two-year community and technical colleges. Of our 12,000 credit students, 41 percent are students of color.
  6. Century College supports its diverse student body through the Multicultural Center, which includes Latino, African/American, and Asian student services.
  7. In 1996, Lakewood State Junior College merged with Northeast Metro Technical College to become Century College. In 2001, a bridge was built over Century Avenue to unify the two campuses.
  8. Century College’s Digital Fabrication Lab (or Fab Lab), which was the fourth constructed in the United States and first in Minnesota, allows students to design and manufacture products through computer-aided design and the latest technology, including 3D printing.
  9. Century College is a critical component of workforce development in the state of Minnesota, supporting more than 3,269 Minnesota jobs.
  10. With cutting-edge technology, Century College prepares students for particularly high-demand STEM occupations such as computer systems, Biomedical engineering, and manufacturing.
  11. Century College’s Nursing program is the #1 ranked Associate Degree Nursing Program in Minnesota, and #2 among all public and private university programs in Minnesota (as determined by RegisteredNursing.org).
  12. Century College’s Medical Assistant program is ranked #1 in the nation by topmedicalassistantprograms.com.
  13. The Continuing Education and Customized Training department (CECT) bridges the skills gap by offering incumbent workers and job-seekers skills training, certificates, and professional development through non-credit courses.
  14. Students have participated in internships with HealthPartners, the Minnesota Legislature, 3M, and the Minnesota Zoo, among other employers.
  15. More than $3.4 million in charitable donations and volunteer services are generated annually by Century College faculty, staff, and students.
  16. Century College’s Resource and Support Center, established in 2016, supports students with food insufficiency by providing low-income students free food and clothing for them and their children.
  17. 2018 marked the 30th year of TRIO programs at Century College. These are grant-funded programs that provide support to low-income and first-generation student populations.
  18. In October 2016, Century College received $1.5 million dollars through the AANAPISI Grant to improve the Career and Technical Education (CTE) enrollment, retention, and graduation rates of Asian and Native American Pacific Islander students.
  19. Century College’s baseball team is currently ranked #5 among Division III two-year colleges in the nation.
  20. Century College secured $6.3 million dollar in funding through the State of Minnesota bonding cycle to design and build an Advanced Technology Center.
  21. The Orthotics and Prosthetics Technician program is one of seven in the country, and the only of its kind in Minnesota. The O&P Practitioner program is partnered with Concordia University’s Master’s program – one of only 13 in the country, and is also the only one in Minnesota.
  22. Century College serves the most military-connected students out of all two-year colleges in Minnesota, and the fourth-most overall out of all schools in the state.
  23. Veterans Services, part of the TRIO Student Support Services program, was funded and established through a federal grant to help veterans understand and obtain military benefits. The program also provides academic support exclusively for veterans.
  24. Century College uses its Program Advisory Committees, consisting of established industry experts, to help ensure its curriculum is relevant, current and aligned to workforce needs.
  25. The Vadnais Heights Economic Development Corporation presented Century College with the 2018 Partnership Award, which is bestowed each year to a partner of the VHEDC that is integral to the success of the business economy.
  26. CECT is partnered with a variety of community-based organizations, including the Community Action Partnership and the Karen Organization of Minnesota.
  27. Interdisciplinary study is featured prominently in a large number of our programs – particularly in Manufacturing, Health Sciences, and other STEM programs.
  28. Century College’s aligns its programs under eight Academic Pathways to guide students and reduce time to completion.
  29. Century College’s career-planning options include career services and GPS LifePlan – an interactive tool for students to map their goals and craft their journey to success.
  30. Century College EMS graduates are well-respected in the Northeast Metro community because they’re ready to work right out of college, having already attained over 400 hours of real-world, hands-on experience.
  31. Every student at Century College is assigned an academic advisor or counselor to help them reach their academic and career goals.
  32. Our 342 faculty are credentialed in their fields and collectively hold 156 Master’s Degrees and 36 Doctorate degrees.
  33. The Century College Foundation awards over 100 scholarships and over $300,000 to students annually.
  34. Former and current students of Century College have a significant presence in the workforce, with 26,947 living and working in the state.
  35. Century College makes transferring easy through eight Transfer Pathway degrees that are guaranteed to transfer to any Minnesota State institution.
  36. Since 2015, there has been a 28% increase in the number of high school students completing courses at Century College through Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO). During this same period, the number of students completing Century College courses in their high schools has nearly tripled from 239 to 666.
  37. With 45 student clubs and organizations, Century College students have many opportunities to pursue their interests, connect with other students, and become leaders.
  38. Century College is the first community and technical college in Minnesota with a designated space for LGBTQIA students, staff, faculty, and alumni, known as theLGBTQ Center.
  39. Just under half of Century College students are the first in their family to go to college.
  40. Century College offers its student learning modalities that work with their lives, whether through face-to-face on campus instruction or through online and blended hybrid courses (combination of online and classroom). 25% of the College’s enrollment is online.
  41. Century College offers credit for prior learning, for experiences aligned to courses. This option allows less time with less expense.
  42. Century College offers a successful Tutors Linked to Classes program. Student tutors are paired with instructors in classes to provide just-in-time academic support to students.
  43. In October 2018, Century College was approved for a three-year grant to fund a Mental Health Training Program, which will be administered to approximately 1,500 employees and first-responders in the community.
  44. Century College’s Learning Abroad programming offers students educational travel experiences that will enhance students’ understanding of other parts of the world.
  45. Century College offers a wide range of Academic Support resources, which students can use at no cost. These include Academic Resource Centers, Tutoring (online and on-site), and the grant-funded TRIO program.
  46. XCEL Energy Center provided Century College’s Solar and Renewable Energy Program with a $607,650 grant to study the impact of snow, dirt, dust, and other particles on solar energy efficiency.
  47. Century College collaborated with the University of Minnesota to develop Bioprinting Certificate, which will teach students a 3-D printing process that uses human cells to create living tissue.
  48. Fine and Performing Arts students at Century College showcase their education and talents through regular musical performances, theatrical productions, and art gallery exhibits open to the public.
  49. Based on the ABC show “Shark Tank,” the Muskie Tank Challenge awards scholarships up to $5,000 for Century College’s aspiring entrepreneurs based on their innovative new ideas.
  50. Century College’s Additive and Digital Manufacturing program, launched in 2016, is playing a big role in addressing Minnesota’s manufacturing worker shortage.
