The New Student Orientation team is excited you have chosen Century College and wants to welcome you to the Wood Duck community! We are here to help you with your transition to college life and ensure you have everything you need for the first day.

Orientation Steps

At Century, every new student is required to complete orientation before registering for courses. Follow the steps below to get started on your academic journey at Century College.

  1. Complete the New Student Orientation in Desire2Learn (D2L) Brightspace. Click on the semester below that you plan to start.

Fall 2020 Orientation

Orientation for fall semester 2020 is now closed. New students should now be completing the orientation for Spring 2021. If you need to update your start date on your record, please contact the Admissions Office and they can help you. Their contact information is admissions@century.edu, or 651-773-1700.

Spring 2021 Orientation

You must be in our system for Spring Semester 2021.

  • Log in to the college's D2L Brightspace.
  • If you need to activate your StarID, visit the StarID Self Service website.
  • Click here to get started.
  • Next, click on Sign on with StarID.
  • After you log in to D2L Brightspace, click on the Select a Course at the top of the page (looks like a waffle) and then click on New Student Orientation Spring 2021.
  • It is best to view the orientation in Chrome, Firefox or Safari browsers.

After completing your orientation you will receive an email in 1-3 business days letting you know your next steps for registering.

Spring 2021 PSEO Orientation / Videos

You must be in our system for Spring Semester 2021.

Summer 2021 Orientation

Currently summer orientation is not available. Please check back the beginning of December.

Fall 2021 Orientation

Currently fall 2021 orientation is not available. Please check back in mid-April, 2021.

 

  1. Make sure course placement is on file with the college as you will need this to register for courses. This could include transfer course work, high school transcripts, and/or ACT, SAT, or MCA scores. Visit the Testing Center page for information on course placement.
  2. Once you have completed orientation, meet with your Orientation Advisor for course advisement. Review the instructions for setting up your Zoom appointment with your Orientation Advisor.
  3. When you know what courses you need, use this Registration Guide to register.

    Receive a $250 Award for Spring Semester - register by December 4, 2020 AND have a 2020-2021 FAFSA on file OR your payment plan and down payment completed by December 4, 2020.

    The first 240 first-time, undergraduate, degree-seeking students to have the above completed will receive the award. Once you have met these requirements, you will receive an email by December 14, 2020 to provide information about how the $250 academic award will be applied towards your tuition and fees, or used to pay for your textbooks and course materials.
  4. Once you have registered for courses, review the Semester Checklist to make sure you have all your ducks in a row before the semester begins.

Please note: Visting students and students who have previously attended Century (excluding concurrent enrollment and continuing education), you do not have to complete orientation. However, you do have access to the New Student Orientation in Desire2Learn Brightspace to view the information if you wish.

Everything You Need to Be a Wood Duck Virtual Sessions

Still have questions after you have registered for courses? Drop in to one of our virtual "open house style" sessions where staff from Financial Aid, Transfer Student Services, Testing Center, Advising/Counseling, Bookstore, Admissions, faculty, and more will be available to answer any questions you have. These sessions are 1-hour long and you can come and go as you need. We want to make sure you are set to start your first semester at Century.

All sessions will use Zoom. Please click on the session that works for you to learn more about joining in.
