Joel Kaden will be entering his first season as the Century College Head Softball Coach with the start of 2015 season. For the last four years, Kaden has served as the assistant coach at Hamline University.
Kaden stated, “I am excited to be given the opportunity to right this ship and turn the Century College Softball Program into a top nationally-ranked junior college program.
This school should be a softball Gold Mine, as there is so much potential here that just needs to be refined. There is a lot of work to be done here, but with strong support from the administration and with all of the educational opportunities that are available for student athletes, there is no reason that Century softball can’t be a top program in a very short time!”
Coach Kaden is no stranger to the world of fastpitch softball, having coached for over 30 years at either the high school or collegiate level.
Coach Kaden, a graduate of Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota, got his coaching start as an undergraduate. He served as an assistant softball coach at Concordia Academy in Roseville, MN. In addition to his time at Concordia, Kaden has worked with the programs at Golden Valley Lutheran Junior College, Bloomington Kennedy, Macalester, North Hennepin Community College, Southeast Missouri State University, Park Center, Fridley, Stillwater and White Bear before joining the staff at Hamline. Seventeen years later, Kaden still remains the winningest coach in Macalester College softball history.
Kaden also started and coached the Minnesota Pride 18 and Under ASA team for two seasons out of Brooklyn Park. He was instrumental in helping develop two future D-I players and several others who went on to play at the DII and DIII levels.
Coach Kaden has served as a private pitching and hitting instructor with Line Drive Batting Cages and was a softball clinician for former MLB manager Greg Riddoch’s All-Star Softball Player and Coaches Clinics, along with Diamond Sports of Minnesota Fastpitch Clinics. Kaden, a Certified Athletic Trainer, works at Concordia Academy as the school’s athletic trainer.
