Mission, Vision, & Values

The mission of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) Center at Century College—the first resource center of its kind at a two-year institution in Minnesota, is to provide resources and support services to meet the academic, social, cultural, and emotional needs of LGBTQIA+ students, staff, faculty, and allies. We aim to:

  • Educate and train our campus and the surrounding community about issues of sexual and gender equity through programming and educational advocacy
  • Examine how intersecting identities impact our work and daily experiences
  • Provide a safer space for LGBTQIA+ students and allies to become leaders in their communities and advocate for the wellbeing of others
  • Advise, advocate, mentor, and support LGBTQIA+ identified students
  • Promoting awareness and visibility for the LGBTQIA+ community on campus
  • Provide networking and social opportunities for the LGBTQIA+ and allied campus community
  • Advocate for change in policies, practices, and procedures across the campus to be more equitable to LGBTQIA+ individuals
