Maria Given is passionate about helping others, and about living a life of service. When the pandemic began, she worked with Roseville Area High School (RAHS) students and teachers to help deliver food to students all over the district.

Liam Sykes is passionate about learning and embracing new opportunities, both inside and outside the classroom. He’s a Century College Post-Secondary Enrollment Options student, working on his General Education courses. He’s also a student at Great River School, which focuses on hands-on learning.

“I have loved Century College from day one. I have loved all my teachers, and their responses were immediate–through Zoom, email, telephone–even over the weekend. And all the staff—from Financial Aid to everyone were great.”

“The Orthotics and Prosthetics field is continuing to innovate, and now is a good time to get into it. It’s a mixture of engineering and art, and you’re able to help others and make a big difference in their lives. It’s a very rewarding field.”

Marissa Torres is currently working on her second Century College degree. In 2022, she earned her Associate’s Degree in Marketing and Communications, while working full-time in her finance job. This time, she is earning her Associates degree in Business Management.

The winners of the 2023 Excellence in Education awards are Century College, Georgian College, Lakeland College and Weber State University.
