London-based Castalian Quartet was recently named quartet-in-residence at the Oxford University Faculty of Music and is a 2019 recipient of the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Young Artists Award. The group makes its Cal Performances debut with a wide-ranging concert program spanning 200 years, from Haydn’s D major quartet from his Op. 20 set to Schubert’s final quartet, to contemporary Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho’s Terra Memoria.
