Recent graduate Nhat Nguyen loved her Century College experience for several reasons.  First of all, she had returned to school as an adult learner, after having taken some time off to work.   “I chose Century’s Nursing program because it’s really well respected. Also, I was working full-time, and the program’s flexibility allowed for that,” she notes.

Diverse College Community

Nhat also loved the diversity of her fellow Century College students and faculty members.  “I loved my cohort.  My group inspired me–many of my classmates were adult students, too,” Nhat says. “All of the instructors were intelligent and encouraging—and concerned with our overall well-being.”

Flexibility During the Pandemic

With the onset of the worldwide pandemic, students and faculty alike were challeged to shift gears quickly and Century College Nursing instructors nimbly adapted their courses.  “During the pandemic this spring, the transition to online turned out to be a different kind of learning experience, but it worked out well,”  Nhat says, “Century College faculty worked hard to convert everything online, and it worked out. I still got enough knowledge from the program in the last semester.”

The Nursing program is rigorous, and Nhat thrived in that environment.  She offers the following advice for potential Nursing students: “If you haven’t worked in the field of healthcare, try to get experience first before you dive into the program, so you’ll know what to expect. It’s demanding, but well worth it.”

Future Plans

After working as Nursing Assistant in the ICU at St. Joseph’s hospital while in school, Nhat recently accepted an RN position in the hospital’s Neuro-Telemetry Unit.  She’s studying for her NCLEX exams and will continue working on her BSN at Metro State University in the fall.  She has a passion for public health and plans to work at a women’s clinic in the future.  “My Century College experience was amazing and set me up for a good future,” Nhat says. “I’m happy I chose Century.”
