February 14, 2018It’s official! Tuesday, February 27, 2018 has been proclaimed “Sophia Day” in the state of Minnesota. Sophia, a ”humanoid robot”, was developed by Hanson Robotics, and is the world’s first robot citizen. Governor Mark Dayton has signed a proclamation designating “Sophia Day”, as well as the Minnesota Legislature.
In conjunction with the White Bear Lake Chamber of Commerce and Century College, Sophia presented from 11 am - 1:30 pm in the East Lincoln Mall. Century College students were involved in prepping Sophia before her “discussion” on robots and their potential impact on the healthcare industry.
The “Sophia Day” proclamation celebrates the community/business partnerships responsible for bringing this special opportunity to the College, and for providing an opportunity for Century College students to be involved in an industry utilizing STEM education.
