September 19, 2017Century College celebrated 50 years with a Proclamation Ceremony, officially declaring September 18, 2017 “Century College Day.”
In addition to the mayors, Century College welcomed Victoria Reinhardt, 2010 Distinguished Alumna and Ramsey County Commissioner, who acted as emcee for the ceremony, and Dr. Devinder Malhotra, Minnesota State Chancellor, who spoke about Century College’s history of transforming lives.
He cited over 3,400 nurses who have graduated from the College; the Fab Lab as the first in Minnesota; former College faculty, like Randy Fane, who attended Century College and then taught and eventually retired from the institution, and the work of those who keep the College running, like Kris Price. “It takes the work of all these people to keep the doors of opportunity open,” he said.
In addition, the Century College Foundation announced new endowed scholarship gifts as part of its “50 for 50 = Century” campaign. These included the White Bear Lake Rotary STRIVE / Woodbury & Gunderson Family scholarship for $50,000, as well as the endowed scholarship gifts from Diana R. Hill, Richard & Mary Brainerd, Ron Anderson & Andrea Quanbeck, and the Shavlik Family.
