ALEXANDRIA, VA—The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) announced Mike Eddy, Narrative Video Production Degree Instructor at Century College in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, as the 2022 ACTE Region III Postsecondary Educator of the Year. This award recognizes the finest career and technical education (CTE) educators at the postsecondary and postsecondary school level who have demonstrated innovation in the classroom, commitment to their students and dedication to the improvement of CTE in their institutions and communities. 

Mike has been an instructor at Century College for 15 years. With more than 30 years in the visual communication industry, Mike Eddy has experience in video production, photography, print, web design, and interactive kiosks. Mike has had the privilege to work with Andersen Windows, General Mills, 3M, Apple, Compassion International, 5 Eyewitness News, and many other media production companies in the Twin Cities area. 

Having extraordinary passion for his work and students, Mike constantly seeks methods to enhance student learning outcomes. He utilizes innovative teaching strategies to help students acquire the technical skills necessary for a successful transition into the workforce. Mike seeks to connect his students with real world clients. For example, Mike and his students have worked with the MN State Highway Patrol, the MN Pollution Control Agency, the Paralympics Nordic World Championships, the Upper Midwest Emmys, the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, the Kinni River Land Trust, and the Century College marketing department. 

Eddy is one of five finalists for the 2023 national title. The national winner will be announced at the ACTE Awards Gala, an award presentation recognizing the best CTE educators in the country. The event will take place on November 30, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. The Awards Gala is sponsored by Express Employment Professionals, Goodheart-Willcox and Stratasys.
