White Bear Lake, Minn - On Tuesday, January 29, Century College is participating in “Minnesota State Day at the Capitol”, which will bring together trustees, presidents, students, faculty, and staff to highlight the importance of the Minnesota State FY2020 – 21 legislative budget request.
Minnesota State will be highlighting Century College student Tanisha Morgan’s story as an example of the outstanding work our colleges and universities are delivering statewide every day. Tanisha graduated with a Human Services degree in 2018, and is currently re-enrolled in the Law Enforcement program. She is also currently involved with the Law Enforcement Career Path Academy with the St. Paul Police Department. Tanisha is interested in mental health issues and works to promote the SPPD’s new Mental Health unit to residents of St. Paul.
Tanisha’s story is typical of the kind of student success that helps drive Minnesota’s economy by providing the talent employers need.
Minnesota State’s biennial budget request focuses on serving our current and future students, protecting our commitment to affordability, and building capacity for innovation. It represents a critical investment in the success of our students.
Approving the biennial request means that Century College provides continued investment in services, such as academic pathways, to improve student retention and completion, and investment in new program development in high-demand fields, which will meet the needs of employers in fields such as manufacturing, healthcare and IT.
