Kerry Johnson’s dreams of graduating from St. Olaf College ended after his freshman year when he realized his hard-earned savings would not cover his expenses. He moved home to White Bear Lake. While considering his options, he fell off a ladder, severely injuring his back.
Some might call this twist of fate bad luck; others might see the winds of destiny at play. Johnson’s back pain introduced him to chiropractic care and his life’s work. With a clear focus, his career path started to feel obtainable. He learned if he attended his local community college, he could afford to complete his undergraduate requirements while living at home and working.
Discovering Century College
Century College provided Johnson with a firm educational foundation, opening doors to a successful career. He went on to attend Life University in Atlanta, Georgia, earning his Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
While there, he was introduced to a little-known procedure called NUCCA and has since become one of only 30 doctors in the world board-certified in this method. He is a credentialed instructor for NUCCA and teaches at Northwestern Health Sciences University, where he also completed postgraduate certification in Occupational Health & Sports Injuries.
Century College also introduced Johnson to his wife, Lisa. They met while singing in the choir. Together they opened a Chiropractic Clinic in Rosemount, MN. Lisa handled the administrative side of the business and Johnson built his practice one patient at a time.
At the Top of His Field
Johnson has been a licensed chiropractor since 1986. Today, his clinic employs five doctors, and in 2017 the clinic had 18,000 patient visits. He was voted a Top Chiropractor by Minnesota Monthly in 2014, and 2015. He is the Past President of the Minnesota Board of Chiropractic Examiners.
Johnson is involved in numerous organizations including the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association, the Gregory Circle, and Upper Cervical Research Foundation. He is a member of the International Chiropractic Association, The Minnesota Chiropractic Association, and Extension Faculty at Northwestern Health Sciences University.
He also is a National Speaker on Chiropractic Principles, an author of “I’m Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired”, and an inventor, patenting “Heel-Rite,” a Daytime Support for Plantar Fasciitis.
An Active Member in the Community
Johnson contributes to his community and his world as an active member in Christian Mission, building homes for orphans in Africa. He also was instrumental in raising money for well drilling, bringing water to Uganda and Zambia.
He is a licensed Minister with the International Ministerial Fellowship, a Board Member of Innovative Outreaches United, attends Cedar Valley Church, and is a Past Board of Trustees of Substance Church and Elder at Lighthouse Church.
He has been happily married for 36 years. He has two children and three grandchildren (with another on the way). He enjoys cycling, fishing, hunting, and cross-country skiing.
