As a successful interior designer for the last 20 years, Carol Booms decided to add to her expertise, and the scope of the services she provided, by investing in her professional education at Century College.

“Clients often requested help in designing the layout of their kitchens, and, while I had years of experience in material selection, colors and creating the ‘look’ of a kitchen, I felt I lacked the knowledge of the industry standards of good kitchen flow and layout,” she said. “I relied heavily on my contractor or would refer my clients to a kitchen designer.”

In spring 2016, Carol earned a certificate in Kitchen and Bath Design. ”I already had a full plate, and Century’s flexible online/part-time, two-year program was a perfect set up for me,” she noted.

During her first semester, Carol took online classes, and then eventually shifted to classes at the White Bear Lake campus. She loved the camaraderie she found in the classroom. ”There is something about working side by side with other designers that really gets the creative juices flowing,” she observed.

“Through weekly field trips, guest speakers, and the backing of the National Kitchen and Bath Association, Century’s Kitchen and Bath Design degree is on the cutting edge of what is going on in the industry.  The instructors’ vast knowledge, and desire to share that knowledge is paramount to the success of the program,” Carol added. ”The knowledge and hands-on experience I gained in this program has helped me to truly understand, implement and provide the best for my clients.”
