White Bear Lake, MN, August 25, 2020 – Century College recently announced the launch of their Century College Strategic Plan 2020-2025, setting the College’s strategic direction and vision for the next five years.

The development of the Century College Strategic Plan 2020-2025 began in Spring 2019 and continued throughout the 2019-2020 academic year. It was led by a College-wide Planning Task Force and was grounded within the values of collaboration and transparency. More than a dozen stakeholder groups were involved, including students, employees, alumni, local government, community, industry and K12 partners.

“Our number one priority in developing our Strategic Plan was creating a truly collaborative process in which we were able to receive feedback and input from our numerous stakeholder groups. In all, we conducted more than 75 data collections sessions which included hundreds of participants.” states Pat Opatz, Vice President of Finance and Operations and Co-Chair of the Strategic Planning Task Force.

The culmination of this massive effort was the creation of a strategic plan and 2025 vision statement that aligns with the Century College mission, Minnesota State’s Equity 2030, and Higher Learning Commission requirements for accreditation.

This strategic plan and vision will guide and focus our College-wide work for the next five years through five key areas: the recognition and development of the whole person, creating a culture of inclusion, diversity, equity, and action, responsiveness to changing needs and environmental factors, collaboration and partnerships, and innovation,” Opatz notes.

Century College serves over 21,000 students annually attending from local communities, across the state, nation, and world. For over 50 years, Century College has been fulfilling a mission to inspire, prepare, and empower students to succeed in a changing world.

Angelia Millender, President of Century College states, “The work that we do as a community and technical college is driven by a passion, commitment, and dedication to serve our local communities, state, and country, and to provide each student who walks through our doors the opportunity to gain an exceptional and relevant college education that will drive them forward in their careers and life.”

“To continue to succeed within our mission, we must, as a college, be driven by our community values of inspiring learning, broadening perspectives, pursuing excellence, responding to community needs, achieving goals, transforming lives, and celebrating achievement. We must create a bold vision that inspires our campus community to reach new heights. And, most importantly, we must be guided to reach our vision by a comprehensive plan that is collaborative in spirit, thoughtful in consideration, and intentional in focus. This strategic plan will propel Century College toward a bright future,” says Millender.
