It is officially summer!
Are you going on a summer road trip? Heading Up North? Trying to make the most of your daily commute?
Try an audio book!
Century College Library now has a new way to listen to audiobooks, EBSCO Audiobooks. They are available for download on the EBSCO Audiobooks app for either Apple or Android devices. You can browse the EBSCO Audiobooks by going to the Audiobooks from EBSCO link in the Databases A-Z list under the Articles & Databases tab. The same titles can also be found by searching the Century Library Catalog.
Once you’ve found the title that you’re looking for, you need to sign into your EBSCO account. If you already have an account with EBSCO, you can use that one. Don’t have an EBSCO account? You can create one. Click Sign In in the blue bar at the top of any EBSCO page. If you have an account, enter your user name and password in the provided space. If you don’t have an account, click Create a new Account next to the yellow Login button. With your EBSCO account, you can check out audiobooks and save articles and eBooks. Everything is in one place!
After you create an account, select a title, click into the record and click on the blue Check Out button located beneath the image of the book cover. To listen to the book, you will need to open the app on your mobile device and download the book.
Now plug in and click play! The book is available on your device for 3 weeks, and will disappear from the app when your time is up (NO OVERDUE BOOKS!). If you would like to return the book earlier, you can by clicking on the image of the cover, and selecting the trash can in the upper right corner of your screen.
Century Library has other audio book formats available as well.
The classic CD audiobooks are available for 3-week checkout from the library. You can find the titles by searching the library catalog, or feel free to come into Century Library and browse the collection. It is located in the front of the library near our reference desk.
Another format available is Playaway. These small MP3 players have the audiobook preloaded. Just plug in headphones or an auxiliary cable, and press play. Playaways are intermixed with our CD audiobook
