About the Program

Admission to the OPCA Diploma program requires a special application and is highly competitive. The college may not be able to accept all applicants that meet the minimum admission standards. See Admissions, Counseling, or the college website for the application booklet and additional information. Students who earn the Orthotic and Prosthetic Clinical Applications Diploma will meet the requirements to be employed as an Orthotic/Prosthetic Assistant or enter a Baccalaureate degree or a Master’s degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics.

Transfer Agreement

Century College’s Orthotic and Prosthetic Practitioner Programs have transitioned to a Master's Degree in partnership with Concordia University. Details available online at Concordia University's Master of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics (MSOP) program. Century College courses are a required prerequisite.

Application Deadline

The deadline for the OPCA diploma program is April 30, 2018.

Application Requirements

Minnesota Department of Health requires any individual having contact with patients to complete a background study prior to starting the clinical experience. An individual may be disqualified from having patient contact and would not be permitted to participate in the clinical experience. Student may contact the Minnesota Department of Human Service with specific questions: 651-431-2000.

Additional Requirements

Additional Program Prerequisites for the AAS degree:
Course placement in RDNG 0950 or above or completion of RDNG 0900 with a grade of C or higher. Once full, student placed on wait list.

Additional Program Prerequisites for the Diploma:
Orthotic and Prosthetic Fitter AAS OR equivalent skills through work experience in the field assessed by program coordinator OR instructor consent. Course placement in RDNG 1000 or completion of RDNG 0900 or 0950 with a grade of C or higher and course placement in ENGL 1021 or completion of ENGL 0090 with a grade of C or higher. Special application required, which includes completion of BIOL 1020 and PHYS 1020.
