About the Program
Admission to the OPCA Diploma program requires a special application and is highly competitive. The college may not be able to accept all applicants that meet the minimum admission standards. See Admissions, Counseling, or the college website for the application booklet and additional information. Students who earn the Orthotic and Prosthetic Clinical Applications Diploma will meet the requirements to be employed as an Orthotic/Prosthetic Assistant or enter a Baccalaureate degree or a Master’s degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics.

- Provide care for patients with partial or total absence of a limb by fabricating artificial limbs (prostheses)
Century College’s Orthotic and Prosthetic Practitioner Programs have transitioned to a Master's Degree in partnership with Concordia University. Details available online at Concordia University's Master of Science in Orthotics and Prosthetics (MSOP) program. Century College courses are a required prerequisite.

Minnesota Department of Health requires any individual having contact with patients to complete a background study prior to starting the clinical experience. An individual may be disqualified from having patient contact and would not be permitted to participate in the clinical experience. Course placement into ENGL 0950 and RDNG 0950 or above OR completion of RDNG 0940 with a grade of C or higher OR course placement into ESOL 0051 and ESOL 0052 and ESOL 1033 OR completion of ESOL 0041 with a grade of C or higher and ESOL 0042 with a grade of C or higher and ESOL 0043 with a grade of C or higher.
Additional Program Prerequisites for the Diploma:
Orthotic and Prosthetic Fitter AAS OR equivalent skills through work experience in the field assessed by program coordinator OR instructor consent. Course placement into college-level English and Reading OR completion of ENGL 0950 with a grade of C or higher OR completion of RDNG 0940 with a grade of C or higher and qualifying English Placement Exam OR completion of RDNG 0950 with a grade of C or higher and ENGL 0090 with a grade of C or higher OR completion of ESOL 0051 with a grade of C or higher and ESOL 0052 with a grade of C or higher. Special application required, which includes completion of BIOL 1020 and PHYS 1020.
