Pedorthics is the science and practice of evaluating, fabricating, and delivering footwear and foot orthoses to prevent, ease, or treat painful or disabling conditions of the foot and ankle. Pedorthists play a crucial role in the health care profession of Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics. Utilizing traditional plaster casting and 3D scanning technology, students learn to modify, or fabricate footwear to help people maintain or regain as much mobility as possible.
A pedorthist performs patient assessment, formulation of a treatment plan, implementation of the treatment plan, follow-up and practice management.
